Pioneering a Future-Ready Metadata-Centric Platform Architecture for Dynamic Configuration Intelligent Process Automation Operational Agility and Sustainable Enterprise Modernization
Main Article Content
Abstract
Enterprise process modernization increasingly demands flexible platforms capable of replacing rigid workflows, fragmented applications, and costly configuration practices. This study develops a future-ready metadata-centric platform architecture that supports dynamic configuration, intelligent process automation, operational agility, and sustainable enterprise modernization. The research addresses the limited adaptability of conventional enterprise systems and examines how metadata can govern process definitions, business rules, user interfaces, integration services, and operational controls without extensive code modification. A mixed-method research design combines enterprise case analysis, architectural evaluation, practitioner interviews, and quantitative performance assessment across representative process scenarios. Findings demonstrate that the proposed architecture reduces configuration effort, accelerates process deployment, strengthens reuse, improves workflow consistency, and enables faster responses to changing business requirements. The principal innovation lies in a unified metadata repository supported by configurable process engines, rule-based automation, service-oriented integration, governance controls, and continuous performance monitoring. Strategic implications include lower modernization risk, improved technology alignment, stronger operational resilience, and more efficient resource utilization. Academically, the study extends enterprise architecture research by establishing a structured relationship between metadata management, configurable platform design, and process transformation. The resulting framework provides architects, technology leaders, and process managers with a practical foundation for modernizing complex operations while preserving governance, scalability, maintainability, and long-term business value.
