Abstract

Organizations looking for more scalability, central management, and operational robustness have made the move to cloud-native systems of enterprise Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and IP Address Management (IPAM) services a strategic priority. But, in the case of large-scale DDI migration, several issues make it difficult, such as data integrity requirements, heterogeneous network configurations, and minimum service disruption. This paper is aimed at outlining an automated framework for migrating DDI configurations off Infoblox NIOS to Infoblox BloxOne, implemented as a Python script, that can be used for large-scale, multi-country enterprise deployments. The suggested extract, transform, load (ETL) approach uses Infoblox Web APIs to automate the process of extracting data from the source, transforming the schema, validating it, and importing it to the cloud in a consistent manner, while minimizing manual effort. The framework includes automated validation, exception handling, and parameterized execution, enabling deployments to be repeated across geographically distributed environments. Performance evaluation shows that there are significant advantages in terms of effectiveness, accuracy, scalability, and operating reliability over the traditional manual migration practices. The proposed solution offers a viable and scalable solution for enterprise DDI modernization and lays the groundwork for future cloud-native network automation and Infrastructure-as-Code programs.
