Abstract

Cloud computing has become a paradigm shift in enterprise applications, and provides scalable, flexible and cost-effective computing solutions for today’s business environment. Choosing the right cloud architecture is no longer just a technical decision; it’s a strategic move that can significantly impact performance, security, efficiency, and sustainability as organizations move critical applications to the cloud. This study offers a comparative analysis between the major cloud computing architectures which are used by enterprise applications such as public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud and community cloud. The research focuses on their architectural properties, deployment structures, service delivery mechanisms and appropriateness for various enterprise requirements.
It uses a comparative evaluation framework to evaluate core aspects of scalability, performance, security, reliability, quality of service, manageability and cost efficiency. The analysis points to the strengths and weaknesses of each of the architectures and examines the impact of architectural design on enterprise application results. Results show that public cloud architectures have better scalability and cost benefits, while private cloud solutions offer better security and control. While hybrid cloud configurations show great flexibility as they benefit from more than one deployment model, community cloud provides more specialised solutions for organisations with common goals and compliance needs.
The study offers key insights for enterprise decision makers, systems architects, and IT managers who need to align their enterprise cloud adoption strategies with their enterprise goals. It also highlights trends and future directions in the development of cloud architectures, focusing on the increasing significance of integrated, adaptive and enterprise-focused cloud solutions.
