Early Diagnosis of Obstructive Airway Disease Using EMG Technique
Main Article Content
Abstract
Obstructive airway Disease, has a major global burden of 0.25 billion patients in year 2016 as reported by
the World Health Organization (WHO). Obstructive airway disease is an illness which can be slowed from
progression with proper treatment at early phase of the disease. Presently, diagnosis of Obstructive Airway
Disease (OAD) is done using Spirometry results and newly invented surface Electromyographical examination
of the Sternomastoid Muscle(SMM). The said paper focuses on the early detection of OAD. The
Electromyography analysis, age, daily routine, nature of work and habits of subject are the factors considered
in building the mathematical model. The proposed model is validated by a pulmonologist and verified in
clinical study yielding to a 96.57 percent of accuracy. Early detection of pulmonary disease will aid patient
and physician intervening early and leading to lifestyle adjustments to minimize the disease's progression.
