An Effort to reduce the CO2 emission in Computation for Green Computation
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper analyzes the emission rates of carbon dioxide in the computing field by identifying emission sources. This study is done to highlight the breakdown of the carbon footprint of computing devices, thus suggesting tips to reduce the emission rate. CO2 Emission rates are calculated for devices such as PC, Laptops, Mobile Network Infrastructures, Google Search Engine, Devices involved in Cloud and Fog Computing, wireless access points for WiFi, Raspberry Pi, Air-Conditioners and Solar Panels. In the process of analyzing emission rates, the paper also explores how eco-friendly Solar Panels are. This paper mentions the CO2 emission caused by different devices as a side effect and it affects the environment. Adopting Fog Computing can help us better to achieve Green Computing. This study aims to make the reader aware of the emission rates and suggest ways to reduce their carbon footprint.
